WWE Thunderdome Tips

I managed to get into the WWE Thunderdome two times in the last week. The first time was at Hell In A Cell 2020 and the second time was the following SmackDown. If you ever want to take part in the WWE Thunderdome, make sure to check out WWE's Twitter or Facebook accounts for registration posts. I would recommend turning on notifications for WWE's Twitter profile because you'll be able to register faster, and speed is important here because "seats" get filled very quickly.

Once you've signed up for the WWE Thunderdome, you'll get a confirmation email usually a day before or the day of the show and you'll receive another email with a link to join the WWE Thunderdome. The email will also give you a call time to join.

Some useful tips:

1. If you join the link on your call time and the WWE Thunderdome is full, keep refreshing the page until there's a space to join.

2. When your in, make sure to be very enthusiastic on camera. The more enthusiastic you are, the more likely you'll be put on the camera side and even in the front row.

3. Don't swear. Even though your voice won't be pumped into the WWE Thunderdome, joining requires you to have your microphone on and WWE moderators are actively looking to make sure people are following the rules. If you swear, you could be cut from the WWE Thunderdome.

4. Make sure to wear WWE merch on camera as you'll more likely be shown on camera.

5. Use a laptop or computer over a mobile phone and make sure the camera is stable and not moving around.

This is what it will look like once you've entered the WWE Thunderdome:

    Remembering Carrie Fisher

This blog post is dedicated to the one and only Carrie Fisher, who played the iconic Princess Leia from Star Wars. Carrie would've been 64 years old today.

    I hate skill-based matchmaking

So the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta has come out for Xbox and PC and I finally get to try it out. (Thanks Sky VIP for the code!) Just so it's easier to type, I'm going to abbreviate Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War to COD BOCW and skill-based matchmaking to SBMM. Now that's been said, I can finally rant about my experience. Before I got the chance to play the COD BOCW beta, I had been watching YouTuber's online play the game on weekend one, exclusively for PS4 console players. Every single YouTuber I watch said the exact same thing,

"The gameplay is good but SBMM ruins the game"

With that being said, I had a heads up to what sh*t show that was to come. What I didn't know was how extreme the SBMM would actually be in the game and oh my... extreme is an understatement. I load up the game and the first two matches I had were really good. I was running and gunning, shredding everyone who was in my line of sight and earning all my streaks. I honestly thought while playing those two matches that all the YouTuber's I watch were being over dramatic for the video. But boy was I wrong. Really wrong. The third match loads up and I start to play. Instantly I have people drop shotting and slide shotting me. The experience turned from owning n00bs to being in MLG $1 million dollar tournaments.

The more matches I continued to play in the COD BOCW beta, the stricter the SBMM got. I was facing people of the same skill as me and the tier above. It wasn't any fun. SBMM should not be in public matches, only in ranked matches. I loved the old Call of Duty games like Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops 2 because SBMM wasn't a thing. All the matches you played, the people in those matches were random. No one was paired by skill. With the recent Call of Duty games however, you cannot relax because of the stupid SBMM. It literally ruins the game and no matter how much the community complains about it, the developers and publishers don't remove it.

If Treyarch or Activision is reading this (which the won't), please get rid of SBMM from Call of Duty. Or at the least, only have it in ranked play.

    Rant over.

    F**k Covid-19

I'm so tired of this Coronavirus pandemic. Everyday it seems more of our freedoms to do things are taken away from us and the more this pandemic is going on, the more depressed I feel and the less optimistic I am that we will ever go back to normal life. Coronavirus here in the UK is once again getting out of control to the point our most basic freedoms of human interaction is now being taken. As of typing is blog post (14th Oct 2020), the daily number of people being infected with Covid-19 is above 19,000 and the death rate is above 100. The R rate number is rising too and doesn't seem to be slowing so as a result, the infection rate will double even more as it gets higher.

The UK government are even considering a 2 to 3 week "circuit breaker" lock down where we are put under extreme restrictions to try and slow the spread of the virus. However, we went into a 4 month lock down at the start March and where has that gotten us? Yes the infection rate slowed down and even the death rates lowered from the peak of 900 to 1000+ deaths a day but as soon as we went back to some sort of normality, the second wave hits us. Even though these restrictions suck and I hate them so much, I understand why they need to be in place. We have to protect the elderly and the vulnerable. And believe me, I'm all for it. I just don't think lock downs work and this "circuit breaker" lock down will probably have an effect on the transmission rates for a little while and then BOOM! Here comes the third wave. It's just an endless cycle of going in and out of extreme restrictions at this point. I doubt a vaccine that's supposed to be released early next year will really do anything. This virus is most likely like the flu virus where we just have to deal with it and try to live a normal-ish life.

2020 f**king sucks and I hate to be "that guy" but I doubt 2021 will be any better. I guess all we can do is hope as hope seems to be the only thing Governments can't take away from us.

    Xbox Series S/X Pre Orders

Mark your calendars! Xbox Series S and X consoles pre orders go live at 8am BST on September 22nd.

Looking at how Sony handled their pre orders for the PlayStation 5 so poorly, hopefully Xbox won't mess up (like they promise). When the PlayStation 5 immediately went up for pre orders, websites crashed and stock sold out in minutes with a lot of people not being about to secure their console. I have a feeling this will be the same with Xbox when pre orders go live, so make sure you have the retailers websites loaded up just before they go live or you could miss out too.

Despite pre order botches from Sony and the likely hood Microsoft could do the same, this years new generation of consoles will be great for all gamers. The future of console gaming is bright.

Saving up for the Xbox Series S or X

So the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S releases November 10th, and being a long time Xbox user I gotta get one of these consoles. Now that all sounds simple as all I have to do is place a pre-order for the console and pay when it releases. Unfortunately, it's not as simple as that. Money is a big problem for me right now. The coronavirus pandemic has hit me fairly hard financially (like most people) and I simply don't have the money to buy a console.

    Prices:

    Xbox Series S = £249 (left)

    Xbox Series X = £449 (right)

Obviously, I would love to buy the more powerful console of the two, the Xbox Series X but it's way out of my budget. I could go for the cheaper option, the Xbox Series S but even then I'm still going to have to save up. (First world problems, am I right? [sarcasm]) I am going to try and save up enough money for the X but if I can't, I'll most likely go for the S.

I am just hoping that my local game store does a console trade in deal to make the cost of the new console cheaper.

    Tell Me Why Game

    DONTNOD have done it again!

At the time of this writing, DONTNOD's Tell Me Why chapter three is just about to release and I cannot wait. Playing through the first two episodes was a blast and once again reminded me why I love playing DONTNOD's games: great story telling.

Being a massive fan of the Life is Strange games, I was very curious to what direction the team would take this time. What the team have produced is simply a masterpiece. Once again, the team over at DONTNOD have knocked it out of the park and I think Tell Me Why could well be one of their best games to date. You can always tell you're playing a DONTNOD game by the amazing soundtrack that has carefully been selected to bring out the emotions of the player, stories that feel very personal and that everyone can relate to and also the fantastic voice acting.

I don't know how the story will conclude in chapter three but I really do hope DONTNOD make more episodes or make a prequel game like they did with Life is Strange: Before the Storm.

    Final score verdict:

    8.5 / 10 - Impressive

    It's time for a refresh

Today I have decided to refresh my blog by changing the name to my real name. My blog will no longer be called moot but from here on out, it will be called Kieran's Blog.

I don't like to keep to the same style for long so I like to keep things fresh. My content will remain the same with WWE PPV predictions, opinions and privacy topics but the blog will look a little different visually.

    Bitwarden is the best

A few years ago I really wanted to improve my online security because I was reusing the same passwords for most of my accounts and they were less than 8 characters long. So I looked online to see what things I could do and use to improve my online security and I came across an article talking about password managers. After reading the article, I settled on using LastPass password manager because I wanted to use a free product as I simply didn't have the money to buy a yearly subscription to 1Password or Dashlane. LastPass served me well for a free password manager for around 3 years. I liked that most of the features you needed were not locked behind a premium paywall, so I continued to use it.

Everything was fine with LastPass until it ended up getting hacked. This left me worried about the security of my passwords and secure notes and ultimately made me decide to move to a different password manager. Like the first time I was searching for a password manager, I read articles about the pros and cons of many different password managers and compared the features to how useful they would be to me. Bitwarden immediately stood out for me. The fact that it was completely free to use and open source software was an instant confirmation to me that this was the password manager I would use from now on. I signed up for an account on Bitwarden and transferred all of my passwords over from LastPass. The transition was super easy as all I needed to do was export a file from my LastPass vault and import it into my Bitwarden vault. Thank god I didn't have to manually input every single login as I would be sitting there for hours transferring everything.

This is the process of importing your passwords from another password manager. Simply select the format, select the file and click "import data". In an instant, all of your logins are now safely and securely stored in your Bitwarden vault.

This is a screenshot of the Bitwarden web vault. The interface and design makes it every simple to use and navigate.

I have been using Bitwarden for just over a year now and I honestly don't think I'll ever change to another password manager again. Bitwarden has worked so well for me, I decided to pay for their extremely cheap premium plan. So cheap in fact, it's only $10 a year compared to 1Password's $39 a year premium subscription or Dashlane's $60 premium subscription. Being open source too gives me an extra sense of security. Compared to the other password managers, Bitwarden's source code can be looked at by anyone and security experts and Bitwarden hires third party auditing companies to find vulnerabilities in the software so they can be fixed which makes the password manager more secure for everyone.

One thing I don't like about Bitwarden though is that there isn't an emergency access feature to allow a trusted person access to your Bitwarden vault in case something happens to yourself. Luckily though, this is a highly requested feature in the Bitwarden community forums and the team have finally added this to the roadmap!

    https://community.bitwarden.com/t/bitwarden-roadmap/12865

All in all, I can't recommend Bitwarden enough. If you want an open source password manager that's super secure and that offers a lot of features for free, Bitwarden is best password manager for you.

Use F-Droid over the Google Play Store

F-Droid is an alternative app repository for the Google Play Store. Apps that are available through F-Droid are open-source and free with privacy in mind. If you are looking to move away from Google services, F-Droid has many alternative apps that can be used as a replacement.

You can check out the F-Droid website here: f-droid.org - where you can download the F-Droid client for Android.

Below, I have listed some essential apps that are free to download on F-Droid.

    • NetGuard

NetGuard is an application that allows you to block internet access for certain apps. For example, if you don't want Google Maps accessing the internet to track your location, you can simply block access within NetGuard.

    • NewPipe

NewPipe is a YouTube client that doesn't use Google's frameworks or the YouTube API. You are able to watch videos through the app without ads being displayed. As with YouTube premium allowing you to listen to video audio in the background and download videos, NewPipe allows you to do this completely free.

    • KeePassDX

KeePassDX is a free open-source password manager that's compatible with KeePass files. This password manager is very light weight, doesn't contain ads and doesn't use any strange permissions.

    • Encrypt Text

Encrypt Text is exactly what it says - it encrypts text you type into the application. Using AES 256 bit encryption, you can send encrypted text over the internet using non end-to-end encrypted platforms and messaging services.  Encrypt Text is completely free and doesn't contain ads.

    • Simple Contacts

Simple Contacts is a replacement for Google Contacts. If you don't want Google knowing your contacts, this app is essential. Simple Contacts is free and doesn't contain ads. All of your contacts remain on your phone and not sent to any server.

    • Bromite Browser

Bromite is probably the best privacy featured browser on mobile. Using the open-source chromium software, it feels a lot like Google Chrome mobile browser but with better privacy. Bromite is completely free.

Opinion: Why the virtual fan audience could fail

The WWE ThunderDome is in full force and what a fresh of breath air it has brought to the viewing experience for fans watching RAW, SmackDown and pay-per-views. For the first time in months, I can actually sit through a WWE show without having watch it on replay or skip through most of the show. WWE needed the ThunderDome.

Unfortunately, as one person in time has said,
"All good things must come to an end."

Just as the virtual fan experience has just started, I am worried it will end quicker than what most people think. During last night's WWE RAW, a "fan" - and I use that term very loosely, decided it would be a good idea to show a KKK rally on the LED screen then followed by an execution video. Like seriously... what the fuck?!

I get that it's someone just trolling to hopefully get their 15 minutes of fame but this is why we cannot have nice things in this world. Selfish people just have to ruin the fun of everything. If more incidents like this occur with the ThunderDome virtual fan audience, WWE will just shut the whole thing down permanently. Don't get me wrong, WWE should have done a better job in moderating this stuff but with the amount of fans in virtual attendance, WWE is bound to miss something. It's a two-way street. Both fans and WWE have to do the right thing to make it a success.

    It's a real shame that people have to do this. Many fans patiently wait to get their turn to be shown in the WWE ThunderDome in front of a million plus people, but spaces are taken from jackasses that have to troll. My only solution for WWE to reduce incidents like what occurred on RAW is to either;

A - Have fans pay to be apart of the virtual experience (although, this is not ideal but it could deter people from doing that stuff)

Or B - Have a more rigorous vetting procedure where fans have to submit an official ID to take part.

I'm sure there are many more (and better) solutions to what I've listed here but WWE need to act fast or the virtual fan audience could disappear for good.
