Sasha Banks and Naomi indefinetly suspended from WWE after walkout

Announced last night on Friday Night SmackDown, Sasha Banks and Naomi have been suspended indefinitely. They have also had their titles stripped, with a future tournament to take place to crown new champions.

WWE have also removed all Sasha Banks and Naomi merchandise from WWE Shop & WWE Euroshop.

The backstory:

Just before this weeks Monday Night Raw, Sasha Banks and Naomi handed their WWE Women's Tag Team championships to the Head of Talent Relations for WWE, John Laurinaitis. Both wrestlers legitimately walked out due to frustrations with storyline plans, and they felt they weren't "respected enough" as champions.

Shortly after the incident, WWE released a statement on their website and social media channels stating:

When Sasha Banks and Naomi arrived at the arena this afternoon, they were informed of their participation in the main event of tonight's Monday Night Raw.

During the broadcast, they walked into WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis office with their suitcases in hand, placed their tag team championship belts on his desk and walked out.

They claimed they weren't respected enough as tag team champions. And even though they had eight hours to rehearse and construct their match, they claimed they were uncomfortable in the ring with two of their opponents even though they'd had matches with those individuals in the past with no consequence. Monday Night Raw is a scripted live TV show, whose characters are expected to perform the requirements of their contract.

We regret we were unable to deliver, as advertised, tonight's main event.

It's no secret to WWE fans that ever since the Women's Tag Team titles were introduced a few years back, the titles have had zero relevancy on TV. The women's division in WWE is a joke. It's the same matches week after week and it seems like WWE cannot book long term engaging storylines for the incredibly talented wrestlers. It doesn't help either that WWE fired most of the division during the COVID-19 pandemic due to "budget cuts".

I personally cannot blame Sasha Banks and Naomi for walking out. In fact, I commend them for it. They are both talented wrestlers that clearly know their worth. Hopefully this walkout will send waves throughout the company and that more respect is shown to all the wrestlers on the roster.

Weight loss journey starts tomorrow

Way back in 2019, I started to do exercises regularly and I changed the amount of food I was consuming. Over the space of 6 months, I ended up loosing over 3 stone (19+ kg) and I was feeling happy about my weight in a long time. In early 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic happened and we all went into lockdown. All the hard work I did to lose the weight, I ended up putting back on in a short amount of time (and then some), and now I'm the heaviest I've ever been. I'm honestly tired of getting out of breath when I walk up a flight of stairs or if I have to walk to someplace that I need to go to.

Tomorrow, Friday 15th April 2022, I am going to restart what I did all the way back in 2019. I am going to try to lose weight by exercising regularly and I am going to control how much I eat in a day. I am confident I can do it this time around, just like I did then - and hopefully this time I can keep the weight off this time and not go back to how I am now.

Wish me luck... because I am going to need it.

I'm thinking of starting the #100Days writing challenge

Yep that's right. I may start the Listed 100 days writing challenge soon (not making it a promise though!), as I feel I need to blog more often than I currently do.
Mo and the Standard Notes dev team recently made it possible to publish blog posts from the Standard Notes mobile app - so I've got no excuse anymore :'D

What am I going to write about each day? I haven't a clue... My life is pretty boring. Kudos to fellow Listed community members who've succeeded.

Trucking For Peace raises over $25,000 for Ukraine

Earlier this month, the creators of Euro Truck Simulator 2, SCS Software, started the campaign Trucking For Peace to raise money for Ukrainians who are affected by the war and invasion of Russian troops by the order of Vladimir Putin.

With an initial donation of 20,000 Euros (22,000 USD), SCS Software released 4 Ukraine themed paint jobs where 100% of the profits would be donated directly to the People In Need charity, and the Euro Truck Simulator 2 community (dubbed The Best Community Ever) certainly didn't disappoint in their efforts to help raise money. With the support of the whole ETS2 and ATS community, SCS Software managed raised over 18,000 USD in 24 hours for Trucking For Peace.

To date, over 25,000 USD has been raised and that number keeps on growing!

Recently, SCS Software (along with the kind people from Satnik Praha), delivered 50,000 CZK (around 2,200 USD) worth of food and hygiene products for Ukrainian refugees who had to flee their home country for safety.

If you would like to donate on behalf of Trucking For Peace to help Ukrainians in a time of crisis, please purchase the Ukrainian Paint Jobs Pack DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2 on Steam and all proceeds will go directly the People In Need charity. Alternatively, you can donate directly.

You can find more information about Trucking For Peace on SCS Software's official blog.

Please spread the message by using #TruckingForPeace on Twitter.

Building a Discord bot from scratch

During my spare time recently, I've been working on a multipurpose Discord bot that has moderation tools, music and other misc. features. It's something that I've been building when I've got some spare time. Development for the bot is going at a steady pace and I've already managed to build the music integration that works by pulling audio from YouTube using their public API. I am also working on supporting Spotify links so they can be played seamlessly too. However, this is turning out to be fairly difficult because of the way it works with merging with the current YouTube API - and I am a complete noob at coding this.

Did I mention that I am building this thing while learning a new way to code? That's right, I am learning while I am building it. I've had to use many YouTube videos and coding forum tutorials to get this thing up and running, but I'm getting there and making decent progress. Friends of mine have asked me if I'd ever release it to the public and to be honest - probably not. This Discord bot is simply a personal project of mine and by no means do I have the funds to host the bot on a dedicated server for possibly thousands of users to use. It's just too demanding and costly.

Maybe I'll change my mind once my Discord bot has more features and is more stable, but for now it's something that I work on in my spare time and I don't really have any intention of releasing it (at least not yet).

Mental struggle

Over these last 2 years, life for me has been more of a struggle than ever before. With the uncertainty with Covid, the endless number of restrictions that have been imposed throughout this pandemic, it's been a continuous battle to try and keep myself somewhat sane. For the record, I've struggled with mental health issues all my life. I've had chronic depression since... forever, and I honestly can't remember a time where I haven't been suffering with depression. But these past couple of years have been tough. Before this pandemic, I was working out and losing weight and trying to make a change. I've been overweight since puberty, and I've always struggled with weight loss since. The first lockdown hit, and my mental health got worse again, and I've been feeling the effects since. Food is my comfort and I eat when I am sad to make me feel happy. The problem with this is that I am eating too much and because I was locked inside for months, all the weight I lost, I put it all back on and I'm now probably the heaviest I've ever been in my life.

As my mental health has declined, I've generally become less productive overall and lost a lot of motivation to do anything. I sometimes wake up in the morning and I just can't be bothered to get out of bed. When it comes to friendships, most are either strained or people have stopped talking to me altogether - simply because "I don't seem that interested" in having a conversation or wanted to play video games or hangout with them. I am like this not because I don't like them or anything, it's just exhausting for me to sometimes hold a conversation with other people or keep with certain commitments that come with friendships. I don't blame anyone in my life for wanting to distance themselves away from me. In fact, I am used to it. I've never been that guy that's had many friends.

I often look back and wonder what would happen if I did certain things differently. Would I be where I am now? Would my life be any worse or better? Unfortunately, I'll never know the answer to those questions.

All I can do now is try to improve my wellbeing and try to get back on track with my life, and I've still got a lot of work to do mentally and physically.

Leveled up

Now level 24.

Also I hope you have a Happy New Year if you're reading this.

Got my booster vaccination

Last week on Thursday the 16th Dec, I received my booster COVID-19 vaccination due to the new Omicron variant. The vaccine I got for my booster was Moderna. This was different to the two initial vaccines I got, as I had the Pfizer vaccine for those. With the Pfizer vaccines, I didn't really get any side effects, apart from the sore arm and a slight headache.

With my Moderna booster, the side effects hit me like a freight train! I got the chills, my body was aching all over and I felt very tired. Along with those side effects, I had the usual arm ache from having the vaccine. These side effects lasted for around 2 days and taking paracetamol did help in making me feel better for a few hours. Despite these side effects, I am glad I got my booster shot as I am somewhat better protected from COVID-19. I'll continue with mask wearing in public spaces though, as the vaccine doesn't make me invulnerable from catching the virus.

Hitting the theme reset button on my blog

For the longest time, I've had a custom CSS theme for my blog. I really liked that my blog had its own distinct identity, but it sure was a pain in the ass to maintain and update. I am now hitting the reset button and going back to basics! The default Listed theme is good enough for me.

Rest in Peace, dark-red theme. You'll be missed.

A list of applications I use, heading into 2022

These are applications that I use on a day-to-day basis and will continue to do so heading into 2022. I will update this blog post if I ever stop using an application that is listed, or I find a new application that I love to use.

Security and privacy:

1Password

I have been using 1Password for a nearly a year now and I find 1Password to be an excellent password manager for my needs. 1Password is costly compared to other password managers on the market, but the overall design and the functionality of auto filling passwords is far better than other password managers I've used in the past.

SimpleLogin

SimpleLogin has become one of my go-to tools when creating new logins on websites or services. Instead of using my real email address, I generate an email alias from either the website, app or browser extension. SimpleLogin gives me peace of mind knowing websites don't know my real email address and if they were to ever be breached, my real email remains safe. SimpleLogin is very underrated and in my opinion, a must use tool.

TokenVault by Standard Notes

It's no secret that I am heavily invested in Standard Notes' ecosystem. I run a blog from it, I create notes within the application pretty much daily and I try to stay active within the community, whether that's messaging in their Slack group or on Twitter. So why should I keep my 2FA tokens elsewhere? It's just super convenient for me to store them there and saves me a few steps in opening a dedicated authenticator app. Furthermore, my tokens are super safe in Standard Notes' Token Vault because they are protected by strong encryption.

VPN:

Mullvad VPN

In my opinion, Mullvad VPN is one of the most trusted VPNs on the market. No logging of data, open-source and no questionable history. They've been audited and have transparent pricing. You won't find the usual BS "limited time sales" like most other VPNs, and they don't pay people to say nice things about them.

Notetaking:

Standard Notes

Standard Notes has become a trusted place I can write down all of my thoughts and feelings safely. When I first downloaded Standard Notes, I never thought I would use it as much as I do today. From noting down reminders, ideas, and running my blog from within Standard Notes, I have achieved more productivity within my work and personal life. I can see myself still using Standard Notes in 50 years time. It's become an integral part of my life.

Cloud storage:

Filen

Filen is a new open-source cloud storage provider based in Germany and I've recently made the switch to it. Filen has Zero-knowledge encryption by default, it's open-source and offers generous storage plans for a reasonable price.

Cryptomator

I use Cryptomator to store sensitive documents like bank statements and bills in cloud storage providers like Google Drive. Crpytomator is open-source and essentially adds zero-knowledge encryption to services that don't have it.

Music:

Spotify

Out of any product on this list, I definitely use Spotify more than the rest. I've been using this music service for years as I just love listening to music. I've tried other music services like Deezer and Tidal but they didn't quite meet my expectations like Spotify does. I honestly think Spotify knows more about my music tastes than I know myself. (Take that as a good thing or a bad thing)

Misc:

Discord

I've been using Discord ever since it released back in 2015. It is my main communication platform to talk and hang out with friends.

Forecastie

Forecastie is an open-source weather app that uses data from OpenWeatherMap.

Imagepipe

Imagepipe is an app that removes exif data from images. I also use it to reduce image size of pictures if I need to send them over email or another service that may limit image size.

NewPipe

NewPipe is an open-source YouTube alternative for Android. I like NewPipe because it doesn't use any of Google's framework libraries or the YouTube API itself. It also makes YouTube Premium irrelevant because NewPipe has all of the features from YouTube Premium that's locked behind a paywall, for free. I can listen to videos in background mode and download those videos through the app and not have to pay £11.99 per month to do so.

Wikipedia

This is probably a something people who personally know me would not of expected to be on this list. I cannot deny the fact that I love Wikipedia. In fact, I've been donating to Wikipedia for the past 4 years because I believe in the vision that knowledge should be free for all, and Wikipedia stands for that. You'll always find the Wikipedia app on my phone as I am always wanting to find more information and gain more knowledge about anything that sparks my interest. I know that people say that Wikipedia can be unreliable, but I believe that opinion is no longer relevant for most topics. Information on the website has gotten more accurate in recent years and therefore I have more trust in Wikipedia.

Vgy(dot)me

Vgy(dot)me is a free image hosting website. It's super simple to use and it even supports ShareX. They unfortunately no longer support video uploading, but they are still one of the best out there.

What are some of your go-to applications and have you got any recommendations for me to try out? Let me know by writing in my guestbook.
